Depends on who you ask imo

Is it wrong to look out for one's self? Not really. But is it wrong to essentially send the message: "You guys can play in this bowl game. It's not worth it to me though. I'll show up and watch but I'm done with this team as far as onfield leadership."
Don't care how much $$ he's looking at, that's a shitty message. Especially for younger players who were learning from him. "Team only goes as far as it takes to get to a pay check."
It's been coming for awhile. "Oh the university makes so much money, the players should get a taste!" is the nonsense we buy into. Pretty soon the student athlete will dissolve and there will be no point in being affiliated with a university as a full ride scholarship is no longer enough. We begin paying players and the the slope slides into oblivion until the NCAA football scene is just a minor league for the NFL. Oh well. Some kid got paid until his knees went out so we can sleep at night better I guess.
